On certain vehicles, the nut securing the pulley for the power steering hydraulic pump may loosen due to lack of torque, and/or the pulley may develop cracks due to lack of strength. If these problems are left unattended, abnormal noise may be generated, and in the worst case, the pulley could break or come off the pump, in which case, steering could becomes heavier.

Correction:
The pulley and the nut for the power steering hydraulic pump should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. Also, if the power steering hydraulic pump is damaged, it should be replaced with a new one.
Identification:
The factory approved replacement pulley has six holes, instead of four.
