On certain vehicles, the elements, which are a part of the metal belt of the CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission), are deformed in the lower sections (body parts), due to imperfect metal presswork. Load from driving can cause localized stress concentrations at the necks of the elements, and in the worst case, the elements could break and a broken piece could be caught between the metal belt and the pulley, resulting in breakage of the belt, which would cause the vehicle to stall.
