The U-bolts that secure the rear axle onto the leaf springs may crack due to improper manufacturing process. If this occurs, the bolts may be corroded by a snow melting agent. If such cracks are left unattended, the bolts may break and cause abnormal noises, or the bumper stoppers may fall off. Also, there is a possibility that the rear axle may get misaligned, which could adversely affect the stability of the vehicle.
