For the transfer, on certain vehicles, the nuts on the couplings connected to the propeller shafts for the front and rear wheels are not caulked. If left unfixed, the nuts can become loose, and in the worst case, the propeller shafts could fall off causing the vehicle to stall.
Case Number:
RJ-0528-0
Make/model:
Issued:
Thu, 1998-07-30
Component:
transfer
Affected:
9 663
Correction:
The nuts should be checked for caulking, and the uncaulked nuts should be caulked. If the uncaulked nut is found loose, the inside of the transfer should be inspected and damaged parts should be replaced with new ones.
Identification:
green paint on the bolts that connect the couplings and the propeller shafts (8 bolts in total, on the front and rear couplings)
