On certain vehicles, there may be foreign material in the parking brake cables, mixed in the process of depositing the outer coats, and therefore cracks may occur on the outer coats. If the vehicle continues to be driven with such a cracked cable, the outer casing of the cable may bend and interfere with the inner wire, and at worst the inner wire could break in which case the parking brake will not function properly.
