On certain vehicles, the joint between the diffuser and the gas generator body inside the passenger airbag inflator is not properly welded, and therefore, the diffuser may come off the joint when the airbag is activated. If this happens, the diffuser fails to discharge the gas so the airbag will not be deployed, and the passenger could be seriously injured in a frontal collision.
