The tensioner for the timing chain driving the camshaft can fail to work in coordination with the chain due to lack of durability, causing the chain to interfere with its surrounding parts and make abnormal noise. If this problem is left unattended, (1) the tension guide can break and a broken piece may be stuck in the timing chain and cause the chain to be broken, and in which case, the engine stalls and will not restart, or (2) the revolutions of the camshaft can become erratic, and this could cause the rear cam sprocket bolt on the camshaft to be tightened excessively and to be broken, and furthermore this breakage could cause the vacuum pump chain to be broken, in which case the vacuum brake booster will not work resulting in reduced brake efficiency.
