RJ-1189-0

For automatic transmission vehicles with sports mode, the bare wire around the terminal of the transmission mode switch may interfere with the shift lever due to improper routing. If this happens, there is a risk that a short circuit occurs in the wiring blowing a fuse, resulting in transmission shock and/or no illumination of the gear indicator and the reversing lights.

Case Number:
RJ-1189-0

Make/model:

Issued:
Thu, 2004-07-29
Component:
transmission (switch wiring)
Affected:
2 373
Correction:
The gap between the wiring and the shift lever should be checked, and if it is not sufficient, the angle of the terminal should be changed to make the gap bigger. If the wiring is damaged, the transmission mode switch assembly should be replaced with a new one.
