The ball joint connecting the drag link and the knuckle arm of the steering unit does not have sufficient strength, and frequent operations that put a high level of stress on the steering unit such as dry steering over a long time can cause its tapered part to crack. If the vehicle continues to be driven with the cracked ball joint, in the worst case, the tapered part could break, making steering impossible.

Correction: 
The drag link assembly should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit, and for certain types of vehicles (P-WGL4M, U-WGL4M, P-WGLAM, U-WGLAM, P-WGLAN, U-WGLAN), the power steering pump should also be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit (whose pump pressure has been lowered). Incidentally, it will take time to supply all the factory approved replacement units, and therefore as a temporary measure, the ball joint on the drag link should be inspected for cracks, and if there is anything wrong, the replacements (including the power steering pump) should be carried out, otherwise they should be done at a later date.
