On certain vehicles, the fuel tank is deformed from excessive pressure placed in an airtight test. If the vehicle is parked on a steep hill at a high ambient temperature in summer with such a deformed tank filled to the maximum capacity, too much fuel may flow from the fuel tank to the canister, in which case fuel could leak from the canister.
