The IC in the ECU is not properly protected, and it may be damaged by electrical noise that is generated when the windscreen wipers are operated. If this occurs, (1) the engine starting system may malfunction, and it may happen that the starter keeps rotating or that the engine stalls and will not restart, or (2) the brake lights may keep illuminating.
