The exhaust pipe may crack from engine vibration because it is not secured in a proper way. If this problem is left unattended, it may occur that the noise level exceeds the regulatory value, or that the sheaths of the surrounding wires melt from exhaust gas heat causing a short circuit, in which case at worst the engine may fail to restart. This problem was reported in RJ-1276-0 submitted on 20th October 2004, but the vehicles to be recalled were not fully accounted for and the instructions were not sufficient. This recall is to change the vehicle listings and the instructions of RJ-1276-0.

Correction:
The exhaust pipe and the muffler should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. Also, the power steering oil pipe and the exhaust brake air pipe should be replaced with the ones whose routings have been changed. In addition, the surroundings of the exhaust pipe and the muffler should be checked, and if they interfere with other parts, the interference should be eliminated. For the vehicles that have been attended as the insufficient instructions of RJ-1276-0, the power steering oil pipe and the exhaust brake air pipe should be checked, and if they are not the replacement units specified in this recall, they should be replaced, and the surroundings of the exhaust pipe and the muffler should be checked, and if they interfere with other parts, the interference should be eliminated.
