On certain vehicles, the joint between the steering shaft and the gearbox is not properly installed, and the serrations between the joint and the gearbox are shallow. Those serrations may wear from repeated steering operations, and subsequently, the joint and the gearbox may become less stable. If this problem is left unattended, the joint and the gearbox could become far less stable, and in the worst case, steering would become impossible. (This recall applies to vehicles equipped with electrical power steering.)

Correction:
The position of the joint between the steering shaft and the gearbox should be checked, and if it is not where it should be, the joint should be replaced with a new one and installed at the correct position.
