For vehicles that are mainly used as taxis, the transverse links of the front shock absorbers do not have sufficient strength, and therefore, they may crack, if the vehicle is driven for a long time under severe conditions, such as driving uphill repeatedly. Impact from road can cause the cracks to grow, and in the worst case, the transverse links could break, which would cause the vehicle to stall.
Case Number:
RJ-1612-0
Make/model:
Issued:
Thu, 2006-02-09
Component:
shock absorbers (transverse links)
Affected:
30 632
Correction:
The transverse links of the front shock absorbers should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. Incidentally, it will take time to supply all the factory approved replacement units, and therefore, as a temporary measure, the transverse links should be checked for cracks, and if they have cracks, the replacement should be carried out, otherwise it should be done at a later date.
Identification:
white paint on the back of the transverse link
