RJ-1628-0

For certain rear shock absorbers of 4WD vehicles, the lower seat for the coil spring and the rear axle beam are not properly welded together, and the welding may give way because of vibration during driving etc., which could cause the seat to tilt and subsequently the brake pipe and the rear axle beam to interfere with each other. If the vehicle continues to be driven in such a state, the brake pipe may be damaged, and in the worst case, brake fluid could leak, resulting in reduced braking efficiency.

Case Number:
RJ-1628-0

Make/model:

Issued:
Thu, 2006-03-02
Component:
shock absorbers (rear axle beams)
Affected:
730
Correction:
The serial/lot number of the rear axle beams should be checked, and the ones to be recalled should be replaced with non-defective ones. Also, the welded sections should be checked, and the brake pipes and the brake hoses near the damaged sections should be replaced with new ones.
