The shape of the terminals in the brake light switch is not appropriately designed, and therefore, they may not have sufficient contact with the terminals in the male connector. If this problem is left unattended, the contact surfaces of the switch terminals may wear due to vibration during traveling etc., and electrical continuity may be lost, which in the worst case could cause the brake lights and the auxiliary brake light to fail.

Correction: 
The brake light switch should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit. In addition, the male connector should be checked, and if it is discoloured, the connector and the wiring should be replaced with new ones.
