The material used for the oil filler cap on the left rocker cover is not appropriate, and therefore, the cap may contract. If this problem is left unattended, the cap may fall off due to the internal pressure in the rocker. If this occurs, the lubricant may splatter, and in the worst case, a fire could break out.
Case Number:
RJ-1795-0
Make/model:
Issued:
Fri, 2006-12-15
Component:
engine (oil filler cap)
Affected:
3 594
Correction:
The oil filler caps on the left and right rocker covers should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. Incidentally, it is likely to take time to supply all the factory approved replacement units, and therefore as a temporary measure, the oil filler cap on the left rocker cover should be replaced with a new one, and the both caps on the left and right rocker covers should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units at a later date.
Identification:
sticker (marked 'HB-51') on the upper corner of the back of the inspection lid located at the left rear of the vehicle body, blue one for the temporary measure and white/yellow one for the permanent measure
