For police vehicles with large capacity batteries, the plastic bands that secure the battery cables do not have sufficient heat resistance, and therefore, they may be damaged by the heat in the engine compartment. If this occurs, the battery cables may dangle and interfere with the heat shield of the exhaust manifold, and in the worst case, the cable sheath could melt, which could cause a short circuit, resulting in a fire.

Correction:
The cable bands should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units, and the metal bracket should be additionally installed in order to secure the cables onto the vehicle body. Also, if the cable sheath is damaged, repair should be carried out with insulating tape.
