On certain vehicles, the pins that secure the ignition key cylinder cap may not be press-fitted properly, and therefore, they may fall out, which can cause the cap to come off. If this problem is left unattended, the parts inside the key cylinder may fall out, and in the worst case, the steering lock system may be engaged while the vehicle is in motion, making steering impossible.

Correction:
The ignition key cylinder should be checked, and if there are any pins that are not in the correct position, the key cylinder should be replaced with a quality assured item. For those that are not defective, the ring to prevent the pins from coming out should be installed.
