RJ-1489-1

The engine revs may stay high due to a program glitch in the engine control computer. If the engine is not turned off when the vehicle is stopped, the high revs may continue. If this occurs, the temperature underneath the floor may rise above normal, in which case the plastic fuel tank, the electrical wiring, and the sheath of the parking brake cable may melt, and at worst this could lead to fuel leakage, engine stall, or a malfunction of the parking brake and so on.

On certain vehicles, for the front shock absorbers, there may be cracks in the ball joint sockets of the lower arms due to the installation of the defective lower arms. In such a case, the inner wheels' driving over a curb when cornering on the circuit etc., sudden steering or sudden braking can cause the ball stud to separate from the ball joint socket, which results in the vehicle to stall. This recall is to include more vehicles in the past recall; RJ-1042-2 submitted on 26th February 2004.

(1) For the manual transmission, the heat shields on the dynamic damper (for reducing vibration to the shift lever) can crack from engine vibration etc. due to lack of strength and cause abnormal noise. If this problem is left unattended, in the worst case, the heat shields could fall off and cause a hazard to other traffic.
