For vehicles with air conditioner, driving at high revs with insufficient amount of refrigerant can cause the air conditioner compressor to burn out, which in the worst case could result in a fire.
Case Number:
KJ-0126-0
Make/model:
Issued:
Thu, 1998-07-09
Component:
air conditioner
Affected:
67 028
Correction:
For vehicles with air conditioner, the remaining amount of refrigerant should be checked, and the compressor should be inspected for leakage. If the amount of refrigerant is under the specified level (50%) or there is a leakage from the compressor, the compressor should be replaced with a new one, in which case, the bracket, the belt, the harness, the low pressure hose and the high pressure hose should be replaced as the installation method is different. If the amount of refrigerant is below the specified level, refrigerant should be filled up.
