For welfare vehicles whose floor and shock absorbers are modified to enable a passenger in a wheelchair to get on and off smoothly by lowering the rear floor, the rear brake pipe may interfere with the hydraulic hose for ascent and descent of the floor, when the rear floor is down, due to route of the pipe. Repeated floor descent may damage the brake pipe, causing brake fluid leakage, resulting in reduced brake efficiency.
Case Number:
RJ-0863-3
Make/model:
Issued:
Tue, 2002-08-20
Component:
brake pipe
Affected:
74
Correction:
The brake pipes should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. In addition, for improvement, the spiral tubes for protecting the hydraulic hoses should be replaced with new ones, and the protectors should be fitted on the rear shock absorber brackets because the hydraulic hose may interfere with the bracket.
