The vanes of the power steering pump were not adequately hardened in the manufacturing process, and therefore, they may wear and the worn particles may be stuck inside the pump or the oil tank. If this problem is left unattended, the oil flow from the pump might decrease, which could cause heavier steering.

Correction:
The serial number on the power steering pump should be checked. If it is subject to the recall, the power steering pump should be replaced with a quality assured item, and the power steering gear box assembly, feed hose and oil tank should be replaced with new ones.
