On certain vehicles, the anti-vibration rubber bonded to the crank pulley may peel off. If this occurs, the outer ring of the crank pulley may come off, in which case the alternator will stop functioning and the engine will stall.

Correction:
How well the rubber is bonded to the crank pulley should be checked. If the rubber has peeled off, the crank pulley should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit, and if not, the plate for stopping the out ring falling off should be installed on the side of the crank pulley.
