RJ-1252-0

The attachment sections of the fuel tank should be checked, and if they do not wobble, the nuts should be tightened to the correct torque, and otherwise the fuel tank assembly should be replaced with a new one.

Case Number:
RJ-1252-0

Make/model:

Issued:
Tue, 2004-09-28
Component:
fuel tank
Affected:
3 274
Correction:
On certain vehicles, the nuts to secure the fuel tank are not sufficiently tightened, because the torque was not checked due to insufficient process control in manufacturing. If this problem is left unattended, the nuts can become loose causing the fuel tank to crack around the attachment sections, and in the worst case, the fuel tank could fall off.
Identification:
white or yellow paint on the flange at the right hand side of the front right nut securing the fuel tank
