For vehicles with spring type parking brakes, the spring can interfere with another spring or the chamber when the springs are pressed (releasing the parking brake), because the internal measurement of the spring chambers is not appropriate, and because the shape of the spring seats is improper, and therefore, the paint on the springs can peel off causing rust. If this problem is left unattended, in the worst case, the springs could break adversely affecting the parking brake performance, or the edge of the broken spring could damage the diaphragm, in which case the parking brake air could leak making it impossible to release the parking brake.

Correction:
The braking chamber assemblies should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. The sticker informing that the springs for parking brakes must be inspected biyearly should be placed on the maintenance handbook.
