The tailgate-side brackets for the tailgate stoppers do not have sufficient strength, because some portions are too thin due to the improper molding process. Those portions may crack from vibration during driving and stress caused by repeated opening/closing of the tailgate, and in the worst case, the bracket could break, and this could cause the stopper to come off, leading to a fall of the tailgate.

Correction:
The tailgate stopper assemblies should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. This should carried out after informing the vehicle owners of this problem and reminding them of what needs to be paid attention to when opening/closing the tailgate.
