The ignition switch can suffer from excessive current when the ignition key is turned to the ignition position and kept there for a while in such a case as when starting the engine takes longer than usual, because the ignition switch circuit is improper. This may cause the inside of the switch to overheat, which can melt the resin, and in the worst case, a short circuit is caused leading to a fire.
