Component:
clutch housing, transmission
Correction:
(1) A reinforcing device (stiffener) should be placed between the engine and the clutch housing (aluminum) to improve rigidity. For vehicles the stiffener can not be fitted, the clutch housing (aluminum) should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit(cast-iron). If the housing is found to have any cracks or damages, it should be replaced with a new one. (2) Measure the distortion (off-center) of the flange recess, which connects the propeller shaft to the output flange. If the distortion is greater than the specified level, main shaft, output flange, and bearing should be replaced with new ones. (3) If the distortion is below the specified level, measure the thickness of the spline on the main shaft, and the output flange should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit according to the measurement. If the thickness of the spline is out of specified level, main shaft, output flange and bearing should be replaced with new ones. (4) Check the looseness of the spider part of the universal joint on the propeller shaft connected to the transmission. If the spider is found loose, it should be aligned with shim or replaced with a new one with a kit. (5) Inspect the propeller shaft. If any distortion or run-out is found, it should be replaced with a new one on assembly. Since it will take time to prepare replacement parts for all the vehicles, the following provisional measures should be implemented, and the vehicle should be checked regularly. (1) Check the clutch housing, and it should be replaced with a new one if any crack or damage is found. (2) The castle nut, which tightens the transmission output flange, should be retightened. Also, Conduct the above inspection/maintenance 4) and 5).
