There is a glitch in the program of the computer to control the engine, so the air/fuel ratio becomes too lean when fuel vapors are used, causing the temperature of exhaust gas to increase. As a result of this, the front catalysts may be damaged from the inside due to heat degradation from high temperature exhaust gas passed through repeatedly.
