On certain vehicles, the needle bearings in the universal joints for the propeller shaft may not hold grease due to improper shape of the bearing edges. If the vehicle continues to be driven with insufficient grease in the bearings, the bearings may burn out, damaging the joints, and in the worst case, the propeller shaft could fall off, which would cause the vehicle to stall.

Correction:
The universal joints should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. Incidentally, it will take time to supply all the factory approved replacement units, and therefore, as a temporary measure, the play of the joints should be checked, and if it is over the specified value, the replacement should be carried out, otherwise, grease should be filled in and the replacement should be done at a later date.
