For vehicles with independent front suspension, the water prevention measures of the bearings inside the front wheel hubs are improper, and therefore, muddy water can enter inside the bearings and cause rust and/or wear. If this problem is left unattended, vibration and abnormal noise may be generated, and in the worst case, the bearings could be damaged causing the vehicle to stall.

Correction: 
(1) 2WD vehicles: To prevent water from reaching the hub oil seals, the waterproof covers and hub oil seals should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. Also the retainers should be additionally installed onto the knuckle oil seals as they may have become rusty. In addition, the hub bearings should be inspected, and the ones that are not in the right conditions should be replaced with new. (2) 4WD vehicles: To prevent water from reaching the hub oil seals, the waterproof covers should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. Also, the hub oil seals should be replaced with new ones, and the hub bearings should be inspected and the ones that are not in the right conditions should be replaced with new. In addition, the knuckles with rusty oil seals should be replaced with new ones.
