For the printed circuit board located on the back of the combination meter, the activation circuit for the alternator is not well designed, and therefore, excessive stress may be put on it, due to thermal expansion of the printed circuit board, which is caused by temperature rise in the passenger compartment and/or heat generated by the meter. If such stress is repeatedly placed on the circuit, a disconnection may occur. If the circuit is disconnected, the alternator will not be activated at engine start, and in the worst case, the engine would stop while driving and would not restart.
