For the printed circuit board located on the back of the combination meter, the activation circuit for the alternator is not well designed, and therefore, excessive stress may be put on it, due to thermal expansion of the printed circuit board, which is caused by temperature rise in the passenger compartment and/or heat generated by the meter. If such stress is repeatedly placed on the circuit, a disconnection may occur. If the circuit is disconnected, the alternator will not be activated at engine start, and in the worst case, the engine would stop while driving and would not restart.

The thrust washer for the automatic belt tensioner, which maintains tension of the belt for the engine auxiliary devices, wears due to its improper material (resin). This could damage the tensioner, causing the belt to come off, and the alternator and the hydraulic pump for power steering stops working. As a result, the charge warning light may be illuminated and steering could become heavier.
