RJ-1605-0

The rack that is to control the injection amount of the fuel injection pump does not have sufficient strength around the notches. Also, the way the fuel injection pump is attached to the engine is not appropriate. For these reasons, the rack can break from continued high revs, in which case the engine revs could rise and at worst this could result in a fire. Note: This problem was reported in RJ-1241-0, submitted on 22nd September 2004, but the vehicles to be recalled were not fully accounted for, so this recall is to add some vehicles to the recall list.

Case Number:
RJ-1605-0

Make/model:

Issued:
Wed, 2006-01-18
Component:
engine (fuel injection pump)
Affected:
35
Correction:
The serial/lot number on the fuel injection pump should be checked, and if it is the one to be recalled, the fuel injection pump should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit whose control rack is made of a different material and is of a different shape. Also, the way the fuel injection pump is attached to the engine should be checked, and if the factory approved replacement has not been carried out, the brackets should be additionally installed to the fuel injection pump.
