The electrical circuit of the rear windscreen wiper motor is not appropriate, and therefore, when the wiper is activated while the wiper blade is frozen, induced electromotive force occurs, and this may cause the capacitor in the circuit to be damaged and short-circuited. If this problem is left unattended, in the worst case, the capacitor may catch fire, and the fire could spread to the plastic parts of the tailgate.

Correction:
The rear windscreen wiper motor should be checked for its function. If the motor functions properly, the harness that have an element built in for absorbing induced electromotive force should be additionally installed. If the motor does not function properly, it should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit.
