The base of the rear hub flanges does not have sufficient strength, and therefore, cracks may appear around it, if, for example, the vehicle is repeatedly driven on a curvy road. Also, such cracks may appear sooner on earlier models, if there is another contributing factor such as defectively manufactured flanges base that causes localized stress. If this problem is left unattended, the cracks may grow, and in the worst case, the cracked parts could be ruptured, which could cause the vehicle to stall.
