There is not sufficient space between the ratchet pole and the bracket, which are components of the parking brake pedal, and therefore, they may interfere with each other and generate more sliding friction, if the plastic ratchet pole swells due to the grease applied to its surface and expands further while the vehicle is parked under the scorching sun. If this occurs, the ratchet pole may not move smoothly when the parking brake pedal is depressed, thus the parking brake may fail to engage.
