The locknut on the input axle of the transfer, may get damaged after many high-speed travels because of its improper structure. If the damage is left unfixed, abnormal vibration may be caused by unbalanced rotation of the drive shaft between the transmission and the transfer, putting excessive stress on the joint mounting the flywheel housing on the transfer case. At worst, the stressed part breaks, and the vehicle becomes stalled.

Correction: 
Both of the companion flange and the locknut should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units, and the oil separator should be removed. Also, a comprising part with any damage should be replaced with a new one.
