On certain vehicles, rainwater can enter the blower fan motor due to the improper structure of the air intake of the air conditioner, and therefore, the motor bearing may become rusty and stuck, in which case the blower fan motor would cease to operate, causing the defroster to stop functioning. For the manual air conditioner, the fuse of the resistor that controls the blower fan revolutions may not meltdown, and in the worst case, a fire could break out.
