There are a number of different surveys that look at all aspects of car ownership.
Because each survey asks different questions, it gets different answers. For example, in terms of customer satisfaction in Germany, Porsche comes tops. That’s because the survey asks: “Do you like owning and driving this vehicle?”
However, if you ask: was your Porsche reliable, you get a different answer (No, often).
Which? magazine reliability index
The independent British consumer group Which? publishes an annual reliability index, based on breakdowns, faults and niggles that occurred to cars owned by its members.

The German ADAC survey - Summarised
The results of the latest (2007) ADAC/AutomarxX car company survey have been translated and summarised here. Results and statistics based on the opinions of expert panels have been left out, as have results concerning the ‘percieved image’ ‘advertising prowess’ and other such fluff.
Customer Satisfaction - The customer satisfaction section of the survey is simply a poll of car owners and how satisfied with their car they are.
