For 6x2, front tandem axle heavy-duty trucks, the material of the rear axle shaft is inappropriate, so the foot of the flange does not have sufficient strength against large stress at take-off. Therefore, severe operations such as a sudden take-off can cause the shaft to break, in which case the vehicle will stall.

RJ-1210-0

For the electrical wiring between the frame and the body located on the front of the cab, the sheath of the harness does not have sufficient durability against up and down movements of the vehicle body at a low temperature, and therefore, vehicle vibration etc. during driving can cause a crack in the sheath. If this problem is left unattended, the sheath may break, which can result in corrosion of the wire core and disconnection of the wiring. At worst, the lights will not illuminate, and/or the engine stops and will not restart.

KJ-0261-0

On certain large and medium sized trucks with manual cab tilt system, the rebound cushion, which is a part of the position detection mechanism for the cab lock, may become adhered to the hook hinge clamp due to improper material, and in which case, it may occur that despite the lock being not engaged the position detection switch for the cab lock is not activated and the cab lock warning light does not illuminate.

The muffler does not have sufficient strength against exhaust gas pressure, and the welding inside the muffler is not adequate. If left unfixed, the welded section may break and allow the exhaust gas to leak, and the heat of the exhaust gas can cause the surrounding parts to melt, which in the worst case could result in a fire.

RJ-1320-0

The tape that is around the bobbin and inward of the coil is made of improper material, and it may emit gas due to heat from the alternator, in which case the coil sheath could be damaged causing a short circuit. If the vehicle continues to be driven while the alternator is generating no power, the engine could stop and will not restart.

RJ-1229-0

The type of the seat near the emergency exit should be checked, and if it is the one to be attended for the recall and if it does not have the fittings to prevent the seat from tilting, the fittings should be installed. Also, for the vehicles with the fittings to prevent the seat from tilting, the depth of the fittings should be checked, and if it is not sufficient, the shim should be fitted to adjust the depth.

RJ-1234-0

The V rod(s) should be replaced with the factory approved replacement units. Incidentally, it will take time to supply all the factory approved replacement units, and therefore as a temporary measure, the V rods should be inspected, and if there is abnormality, the replacements should be carried out, and otherwise, they should be done at later date.

RJ-1208-0

For 6x2 trucks, mud water can enter the inside of the brake drum when raining etc., run down on the brake wheel cylinder and land on the inner hub oil seal retainer due to the inappropriate shape of the dust cover installed behind the rear (dead) axle brake drum. If this problem is unattended, rust can occur on the retainer and the oil seal may wear allowing water to enter the inside of the hub, and in the worst case, the hub bearing could burn out, which results in a fire or a wheel run off.

KJ-0161-0

For the turbocharger with a variable nozzle, which compresses intake air into the engine, the nozzle opening adjustments were not properly done in the manufacturing process. This may cause excessive circulation inside the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) at 1300-1500 rpm, leading to black smoke emission.

RJ-1076-0

On certain vehicles, a crack may occur on the flange of the front hub after driven a lot on a curvy road, due to the lack of durability of the hubs. Also, a crack may occur sooner, depending on other conditions, such as vehicle maintenance and loading. If left unfixed, the crack can grow. At worst, the cracked part gets ruptured, causing the wheel to fall off. Note: this recall is to include more vehicles in the previous recall; RJ-1056-0 issued on 24 March 2004.
